Heparin is a blood thinner that has been distributed in the United States for over 75 years. Heparin is usually used for patients undergoing:
- Kidney Dialysis
- Cardiac Procedures
- Blood Clots
- Burn Treatments
In 2007, Heparin began to be recalled by Baxter Healthcare Corporation as the result of reports that patients were having life threatening allergic responses to Heparin. It was discovered that Baxter Healthcare Corporation's Heparin was contaminated with oversulfated chondroitin sulfate. There were not recalls or contaminations associated with Heparin manufactured by other companies.
Many patients exposed to this contaminated Heparin went into anaphylactic shock, which can cause death or permanent injury.
If you or a loved one went into anaphylactic shock which caused injury and you suspect that it may be the result of exposure to contaminated Heparin please contact one of our Cleveland Ohio lawyers for a free case evaluation. We are evaluating Heparin related cases nationwide.
