Ohio Courts of Common Pleas

Courts of Common Pleas in Ohio are the trial courts of the state judicial system. Each of Ohio's 88 counties has a Court of Common Pleas, which are the trial courts of general jurisdiction for the State. The general division of the Court of Common Pleas has original jurisdiction over criminal felony cases, and all civil cases in which the amount in controversy is greater than $15,000, and has appellate jurisdiction over decisions from certain state and city administrative agencies (e.g. Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation).
